Daily Itinerary – a typical school day
DISCLAIMER: This is a sample of one day at school- not all the subjects that are studied at school are listed here. Other subjects learnt could include art, music, physics, biology, chemistry and other languages. All rights reserved.
8 am - The school day commences at 8am. The entire school meets on the oval to join as one to start the day positively. This first hour includes some light physical exercise (to wake our bodies) followed by some words from our leader to get us in the right mind set.
We then split up into our individual classes where everyone receives a summary of the day’s happenings.
9 am – Lesson: History of philosophy. In that Qi Laing has many ideals based on philosophical virtues, students start this day learning about historical philosophical teachers and their ideas.
10 am – Lesson: Language. The students continue with learning the essentials of the English language (grammar etc). This also can involve learning the history of the English language (E.g. Latin roots).
11 am – Morning tea is prepared in school kitchens so that all students get a good and nutritious diet. Morning tea is the only meal that the students eat at school therefore it is more like a lunch than a morning tea.
11:30 am to 1 pm – Lesson: Maths. The maths lessons on Qi Laing are quite a resemblance to that of today’s. The only difference being that there would be groups of students learning in their own style rather than the whole class learning the same way.
1 pm – Lesson: Astronomy. Students learn about things such as other planets in the solar system, the sun, how gravity works, how dark matter works, about our galaxy and about galaxies beyond.
2 pm – End of school. Parents pick you up/you walk or ride home/buses take you home. Lunch is with your family at your house.
3pm to 6 pm – The afternoon gives students time to:
· Do any homework that has been set
· Enjoy themselves doing things they are interested in : Hobbies, sports, musical instruments, hanging out with friends.
6 pm to 8 pm - Dinner, time to relax, talk with family.
9pm – Get ready for bed. Listen to music/read.
Journal Entries
What a great way to start my 4 week winter holiday break! Last night I went to see Madonna in concert with three friends. We rode out to the Entertainment Centre on the new scram speed magnetic monorail. It is so much smoother than the old monorail, I couldn’t believe it! Although I have seen Madonna five times before at the VRED (Virtual Reality Entertainment Dome) it was incredible to see her in the flesh. I can’t believe she is 135 years old, she is more like 58! It was a fantastic night.
I am just relaxing today. I may do a bit of shopping on the net later to get a few more things to take skiing next week. Mum, Dad and I are heading off to the ski fields down south again. They have just opened a new virtual ‘Colorado’ station. It has snow making facilities that make perfect powder snow.
Will fill you in on my trip when I get home, it was so cool seeing the colony of snow bears and snow foxes last year. Hope to see them again this time.
2) Journal entry of a 60 year old man
Today I finally perfected ‘Fur Eliese’ on my cello. I must say, since starting my lessons with my new teacher (Johann Van Der Meer in Austria) at the International Virtual Reality School of Musical Institution, I have walked away from each lesson feeling good about myself and can actually hear myself improving.
Semi-retirement is working out beautifully for me. I still get great enjoyment working at the Research Medical Unit three days a week (vaccines for general liver regeneration are going well) but thoroughly enjoy the balance of four days per week of pursuing my passion – music. The VRED is having a Mozart concert next week that I am looking forward to.
I have just been notified that my hip replacement operation has been put off until October. They now want to use the new VSU 420 which will last a life time and makes recovery a lot quicker. That sounds good to me!
3) Journal entry of a Space- aeronautical Engineer
I began a new mission today to upgrade the Hubble 5 telescope. I met some other team members today from the Quantum Physics Asia Unit. I was glad to see Hibachi-san from Osaka and Tzu Sung from Seol as I really had a great time working with them last year on Mars Reconnaissance Mission3. The new headquarter at Cape Conavril are great! The holographic screening area is the best I’ve seen.
We will probably re-locate to new units closer to work in spring. There is a new community almost complete just out of town. Carbon free/Zero waste technology is used throughout the community. All set within a regenerated rain forest. Looks totally radical.
Off on a date tonight with triplets from Sweden
Can’t wait.
My Declaration of Independence
Racial and religious wars are constantly tearing the world further and further apart. Wars that have been raging for generations. Because of social, cultural, and economic differences throughout the world, people are unable to gain adequate education, receive basic health needs or have the opportunity to live a fulfilling life.
The environment has no voice in our current society. Pleas to stop destroying the environment and other species have been ignored by so many countries around the world, and until recently, even Australia has not been part of the Kyoto Protocol (a plan to reduce green house emissions and destruction of the environment).
My society has been made to end all of the problems above. These let-downs of the current world will have no home in Qi Laing.
My Bill of Rights
1. Tolerance. Everyone in the society must have tolerance for one another. Tolerance underpins everything in my society. Showing respect for the race, religion, gender, age, opinions and ideals of other people and groups.
2. Environment. All in my society have a commitment to care for and protect our environment.
3. Education. ‘Knowledge is power, Knowledge is safety, knowledge is happiness’ – Jefferson. All have the basic right to experience a full and complete education. Education is encouraged at any age and is a life long process
4. Self-determination. Every citizen has the right to self-determination regardless of age, gender, race, religion, or cultural difference.
5. Welfare & Health care. Everyone has access to what they need to experience a healthy level of both physical and emotional well being.
6. Equality for all. The same rules apply to everyone from fundamental rights to everyday living.
7. An open and transparent government. Discussions and decisions, private and public meetings, absolutely everything that goes on inside the government is able to be accessed by the public.
8. Egalitarianism. Qi Laing is structured as an egalitarian society, meaning that everyone looks out for other humans, plants and animals. A fairness and basic right exists for all to be, thrive, and prosper.
9. Euthanasia. Every citizen has a right to dignity at death. Managed euthanasia is practiced for terminally ill patients with a declining condition. Death is just a part of life, not something to be feared of.
10. Balance. My society supports and encourages balance in everyone’s life. Family commitments and work must not over burden each day. Individual interests and hobbies must have time to be carried out. This way balance can exist in everyone’s lifestyle.
Invitation to friend
I would like to tell you why Qi Laing, my Utopian society, is the best place to live your life.
Firstly, My Government.
The government in my society is based on morals that are made and decided upon by the society. Everyone gets their say in my society, nobody is ignored. The government is completely transparent. Everything that goes on inside the government, no matter what the occasion, is available to the public for viewing.Secondly, My Society's Rights
In Qi Laing everyone has the right to knowledge, welfare, heath care, self-determination, and equality. We hold education in the highest esteem and everyone will have the opportunity to discover the joys that tailor made education can provide to you. Our education system is based around the values held by Thomas Jefferson when he said 'Knowledge is power, knowledge is safety, knowledge is happiness.'
And thirdly, Tolerance
My citizens are kind, polite, and most importantly, tolerant. Tolerance is what my society is based upon. Accepting one-another in every way is something my society excels in.
We hope to see you in Qi Laing soon!
Tolerably,
Cody the tolerant.
My utopian seal ~ ~ ~ ~ 容忍
The seal is always stamped in the colour green as green has historically been a colour signifying hope.
My Utopian Governing Body
If a citizen has a complaint, concern, or requires guidance, the ten leaders use their best moral judgement to come up with a plan of action. If two or more parties are having problems coming to a compromise, the government will step in and adjudicate until a decision can be made that all parties can abide by.
The government in my society is totally transparent, meaning that everything that is said and done (no matter what the circumstances) is available to the general public for viewing.

My Utopian Society's Motto
This is a quote of Socrates. I have used this quote as the motto of my society because my citizens strive to live a life that is not materialistic. People are able to live a life where their needs are met and there is a perfect balance between a person's individual wants and that which the society is able to provide to them.
